1. What are Internet cookies?
Most Internet cookies are incredibly simple, but they are one of those things that have taken on a life of their own. Cookies started receiving tremendous media attention back in 2000 because of Internet privacy concerns, and the debate still rages.

2. What are packets?
A piece of a message transmitted over a packet-switching network. See under packet switching. One of the key features of a packet is that it contains the destination address in addition to the data. In IP networks, packets are often called datagrams.

3. What route do packets take over the Internet?
The diagrams we saw on the previous page are so complex, and the specific details of how data packets travel from one machine to another are generally so unimportant, that the entire Internet is often regarded as a "network cloud" where data pumped in one side mysteriously emerges from the other.

4. What is a 404 error on the web?
The 404 or Not Found error message is an HTTP standard response code indicating that the client was able to communicate with the server, but either the server could not find what was requested, or it was configured not to fulfill the request and not reveal the reason why.

5. What is 'e-commerce'?
Electronic Commerce is exactly analogous to a marketplace on the Internet. Electronic Commerce consists primarily of the distributing, buying, selling, marketing and servicing of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks.

6. What is the difference between ebay and craigslist?
you can get every thing cheaper i believe on craigslist, but the difference is that on ebay you need an acount unlike on craigslist. also on craigslist it tells you if it is a spam or not unlike ebay craigslist is better.

7. What is SSL?
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), are croptographic protocols which provide secure communications on the internet for such things as web browsing, e-mail, internet faxing, instant messaging, and other data transfers.

8. What are the two major ways for home users to connect to the Internet via a high speed connection?
with firefox and with a google account.

9. What is a T-1 line?
Digital signal 1 is a T-carrier signaling scheme devised by Bell labs 1. DS1 is a widely used standard in telecomunications in north america and japan to transmit voice and data between devices. E1 is used in place of T1 outside of North America and Japan. Technically, DS1 is the transmission protocol used over a physical T1 line; however, the terms "DS1" and "T1" are often used interchangeably.
